IMPHAL, July 18 (Newmai News Network): All Naga Students` Association Manipur (ANSAM) will commemorate the 6th death anniversary of (L) Eno Namthiurei Abonmei who died on July 20, 2005, during the economic blockade called by ANSAM on National Highways 39 and 53.
ANSAM is commemorating the 6th death anniversary of Eno Namthiurei Abonmei on July 20 at the martyr monument site, Jadonang Park in Tamenglong district headquarters from 9:30 am onwards, said its information secretary SK Joseph today. Abonmei is survived by his wife and five children.
“He (Abonmei) sacrificed his life in response to the people`s cause on July 20, 2005 at Irang in Tamenglong district during the ANSAM sponsored economic blockade on both National Highways 39 and 53,” ANSAM added while also calling him a “martyr”.
“The day is observed annually to honor the supreme sacrifice made by the martyr as also to rededicate ourselves and strengthen our unwavering stand and vision,” it stated and appealed to all the schools in Naga areas to offer a silent prayer in memory of the martyrs and for the bereaved families.
