IMPHAL, July 26: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has asserted that the prime duty of every Indian is to safeguard the territorial integrity of the country.
Chief Minister stated this on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas held today at BT Park, Imphal.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas is being observed to mark the victory of the valiant Indian soldiers against Pakistani militants in 1999 at Kargil. Seven soldiers from the state, namely Lance Naik Kaleshore, Sepoy Charles Nicholas Moyon, Sepoy Biningvir Moyon, Lance Naik Birneithang, Sepoy Zamkholal Vaiphei, Sepoy Kapani Asuli and Sepoy Daikho Mao made the supreme sacrifice at the Kargil War, stated Chief Minister Ibobi.
He further maintained that the soldiers from the state had indeed shown their courage and skill in safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country and this has been acknowledged by the country.
Ibobi appealed to the people to stand united to face any threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the country.
The Chief Minister along with other ministers and officials paid floral tribute to the soldiers who laid their lives at the Kargil War.
