IMPHAL, July 11: Security forces have claimed to have arrested two rebels and another individual who was allegedly being taken to be recruited, during separate counter insurgency operations in the state.
According to a release of the SP, Imphal West district, police commandos of the district, acting on credible information have arrested one Prepak cadre identified as s/s lance corporal Haobijam Chalamba alias Sanathoi, 16, s/o H Rajen Singh of Naoremthong Laishram Leirak from his residence on July 10.
On spot verification, the arrested individual disclosed that he had joined the said organization in the year 2008, through one RK Budrung Singh, 27, s/o RK (o) Binakshi Devi of Naoremthong Yumnam Leirak and received his basic military training at Burma, added the release.
Meanwhile, a separate press release of the pro has stated that discovering the movement of UG cadres in the general area of Chelep Track Junction, troops of 29 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR(S) launched an operation in the area on July 10 and apprehended one Prepak cadre and another youth who was being taken for recruitment.
The release has further identified the apprehendee as Elangbam Priyokumar Singh, r/o Lamjao, PO Kakching, PS Waikhong, Thoubal and the new recruit as Sajaphan Nanaobi Singh, 18, s/o Late S Sanatomba Singh, r/o Fangantabi (Keibi) PO. Imphal East.
A sum of Rs 1,640 of Indian currency was also recovered from the aprrehendee who alongwith the recovered money was handed over to Imphal West PS and the recruit to Imphal East Police Station thorough Tengnoupal Police, added the release.
