Cabinet fixes ex-gratia of terror victims at Rs. 2 lakh each

IMPHAL, Aug 30: The state cabinet meeting convened under this evening under the chair of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has approved to grant an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh each to the victims of terror attacks in the state while terming the recent bomb blast at Sangakpam Bazar as an act of “terror”.

The four deceased victims of Sangakpham blast including two school children would get Rs two lakh each as ex-gratia while seriously injured persons would get Rs one lakh each and persons with minor injuries would get Rs 30,000 each.

The cabinet also resolved to give an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh to the deceased driver Md Rahman of Keirao Makting who was killed during blockade-related violence on NH-37. The next of kin of the deceased driver would also be conferred a grade-IV job by the state government.

While briefing media persons after the cabinet meeting, the spokesperson of SPF government, N Biren stated the cabinet has resolved to give compensation as well as job to the next of kin of the deceased driver Rahman after acknowledging his valuable service to the state at such crucial juncture.

Further, the state cabinet approved recruitment of 109 posts on contract basis for extension programme for reform under agriculture department and deputation of 42 officers of agriculture department.

In the meantime, according to a highly placed official source, the result of controversial primary teachers’ recruitment is expected soon as the review committee has already submitted its report to the state government.
