IMPHAL, Aug 28: At least five militant cadres belonging to different militant outfits operating in the state have been reportedly arrested by security forces in separate counter insurgency operation.
The Imphal East district police commandos arrested at least three militant cadres in separate incident.
The Superintendent of Police Imphal East district in a statement said that the district police commandos arrested two cadres of the proscribed KYKL in the wee hour of August 26 at around 3:30 am in front of the gate of the SDC office, Porompat.
The arrested cadres have been identified as one Mathurabastimayum Tarjit alias Tomba Sharma, 43, s/o M. Gourachandra Sharma of Kongba Kshetri Leikai and his wife Mathurabastimayum Nanao Devi.
On verification they disclosed that they are active members of KYKL (MDF) working under the command of one Athouba of KYKL MDF (chief).
The statement further said that another team of the district commandos arrested a woman cadre of the proscribed KCP on August 27 at around 7:30 am from Kongba Ayangpalli road.
The arrested woman is identified as one Nepram Mala Devi, 40, w/o Nepram Ibohalbi Meetei of Bashikhong Torban Leikai. She joined the outfit in the month of 2009 through Ngouru alias Khaba, 38, s/o N. Kumar of Bashikhong Torban Leikai, s/s finance secretary of the outfit. And, involved in extortion of money activities besides supplying hand grenade under the command of Khaba.
In another incident the Imphal West district police commandos arrested a cadre of KCP (Khaba) faction from Moirangkhom near petrol pump namely at around 6:30 pm.
The individual is identified as one Moirangthem Geetchandra alias Ange Singh, 32, s/o M. Birchandra Singh of Khagempalli Panthak.
He is working under one s/s Inaocha of Hiyanglam since three months back and involved in various extortion activities. One mobile handset and two demands letters were seized from his possession, informed a statement of the Senior SP of the Imphal West district police.
In the meantime, the SP Thoubal district police in a statement informed that a combined team of the district commandos and 15 AR arrested one PULF (Raj Khan) faction while conducting frisking and checking at Yairipok bazaar at around 3 pm yesterday.
The arrested individual is identified as one Md. Manojkhan, 17, s/o (L) Md. Tamijuddin of Yairipok.
On preliminary interrogation he confessed to be cadre of the PULF. One 9mm pistol and one demand letter of PULF (Raj Khan) were recovered from him, further asserted the statement.
