IMPHAL, Sept 19: The non-local labourers who have been confined at Dharmasala and Kalibari have urged the authorities concerned to arrest the culprits involved in the recent killing of two non-local labourers rather than making them confined to a place on security ground.
They said they have been deprived of their bread and butter due to their confinement at the two places at Dharmasala and Kalibari.
A strong team of city police has been guarding the non-locals after they were brought together at Thangal Bazar from various parts of Imphal in the aftermath of the two killings.
Speaking to media persons today, a non-local labourer stated that 154 male labourers have been put under confinement at Dharmasala and Kalibari on security ground. However, their wives and children have been left in their rented houses. They are now over-concerned about how their family would survive without them, he averred.
The labourer further appealed to the state government to take up adequate security measures and release them from confinement as soon as possible.
On the other hand, stringent security measures have been taken up in the areas of Imphal where non-locals are dominant.
