IMPHAL, Oct 18: Save Democracy Repeal AFSPA Group, New Delhi is planning to organise a one day fast and demonstration at various cities in India and around the world on November 5, 2011.
A release of the group stated that all individuals, professionals, students’ organisations, civil society organisations, women’s groups, theatre activists, academic communities, activists and all those who believe in the principle and practice of democracy should join the demonstration. It is being organized in support of 53 years of people’s struggle against AFSPA and 11yrs of hunger strike by Irom Sharmila to repeal AFSPA.
The demonstration will be held at Bangalore, Karnataka, Banaras Hindu University, Uttar Pradesh, Post Master’s General in front of Orissa Assembly, Bhubhaneshwar, Orissa, Jantar Mantar, Delhi, Medinipuro Lodha Sabro Kalyan Samiti, West Bengal and Imphal.
