BJP national leaders` meet to be held in Imphal

IMPHAL, Nov 12: Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will organize a national party leaders’ meet in Imphal ahead of 10th Manipur State Assembly Election, stated national general secretary of Tapir Gao during the reception of ex-MLA M Chungkhosei Haokip today.

He further stated that the national party leaders’ meet will be held in Imphal on December 10 for the first time in the state.

Tapir also informed that the national party leaders’ meet would be attended by BJP top brass including its senior leaders L.K. Advani, Sushma Swaraj, opposition leader in Lok Sabha, Arun Jaitly, opposition leader in Rajya Sabha and national chief spokesperson, Ravi Shankar Prashad.

He maintained that the BJP does not want to revoke Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, but in case of Northeast, the controversial act should be repealed.

All the saffron party`s unit presidents of the Northeast, including 10 general secretaries of the party would also be participating at the meet, Tapir said, adding that the meet is organizing in connection with the general elections expecting February next year.

Expressing concern over unchecked black markets in the state, Tapir accused Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh of being himself a black marketer. Black marketers are selling fuel everywhere in jerry cane and bottles at unacceptable prices although fuel outlets are dried up due to blockade.

Meanwhile, the newly joined BJP member, ex-MLA M Chungkhosei Haokip stated that people trust Congress Party on Gandhian Family since time immemorial, but now they have lost faith in Congress after about three decades of rule in the northeast, particularly Manipur.
