IMPHAL, November 7: Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh today opined the need for a united struggle in order to bring peace and unity in the state.
The Chief Minister said this after participating the offering of namaj during the observation of Id-Ul-Juha at a masjid at Bapupara Imphal this morning.
The Chief Minister further addressed the gathering that with the celebration of the Id-ul-Juha, the different communities residing in the state should come together and struggle to restore peace and harmony as well as development in the state.
Later after offering namaj at the masjid, the Chief Minister accompanied by some of his cabinet ministers made an inspection tour of various developmental projects taken up in the state capital, including the construction sites of City Convention Centre and the Manipur Film Development Corporation building at Palace gate.
Speaking on the sideline of the tour, the Chief Minister further told media persons that his government is trying to sort out the issue regarding the demands of the Jiribam District Demand Committee regarding a separate Jiribam district. The government will further hold talks with the committee to bring an amiable solution to the issue, he further informed.
He further informed that the government is trying to complete the construction of the City Convention Centre, which is almost in its completing stages so that the Prime Minister could inaugurate it during this month and further added that the state government is waiting for official clearance from the PMO office on the Prime Minister’s visit to the state.
While acknowledging that the people of the state has been facing undue problems due to the prolonged economic blockades along the National Highways of the state, the Chief Minister further informed that his government will take up all possible steps to overcome the present problems in the state.
Later on the Chief Minister and his team also made another inspection tour of the Capitol project and high court building at Chingmeirong.
