IMPHAL, November 16: Taking serious note of the recent news report of Seven Sisters Post which stated that the Centre is likely to grant “Supra State Body” to the Naga People as Christmas gift, the state cabinet held this evening under the chair of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has resolved to authenticate the matter by meeting the Prime Minister, Union home minister and AICC president Sonia Gandhi soon.
Briefing media persons after the cabinet meeting, SPF spokesperson N Biren stated that the Chief Minister will leave Imphal for New Delhi within two or three days to verify the issue of “Supra State Body” with the Centre.
The cabinet also seriously discussed the issue of shortage of petroleum products in the state.
CAF & PD minister Biren noted that the state government is trying to meet the daily requirement of petrol and diesel in the state against all odds. However, the public are still lining in long queues before oil-pumps to procure the petroleum produtcts.
The cabinet mooted the ways and means to ensure easy availability of petroleum products in the state, he asserted.
The cabinet further resolved that the institution of Lokayukta would be set up in the state as per the decision of the Parliament.
The Maintenance of Senior Citizens Act, 2009 was also approved by the cabinet today in the interest of the senior citizens of the state.
The state cabinet also approved the promotion of joint director of MOBC to the director and recruitment of various other posts of the department including one project officer and grade-IV staff.
The enhancement of remuneration of chairperson and members of Manipur State Minority Commission was also approved by the cabinet.
The chairperson will now get a remuneration of Rs. 30,000 while the members will draw Rs. 20,000 each.
The cabinet further approved the recruitment of eight arts lecturers, eight science lecturers and six lab assistants for Jiribam College.
The upgradation of Borobekra High School to higher secondary school and Khengjoy Primary School to high school was also approved by the cabinet during today’s meet.
