IMPHAL, November 27: After signing a Memorandum of Understanding, with the Jiribam District Demand Committee for the upgradation of Jiribam sub-division to a full-fledged district on November 9, the state government has recently initiated works in the sub division for the establishment of major departments required for a full-fledged district, informed a reliable source.
The establishments of major departments in the sub division were considered during a high level state meeting recently during which the departments to be set up in the sub division were also approved, the source added.
The departments include forest, excise, horticulture, sericulture, YAS, Co-operation, veterinary & animal husbandry, fisheries, education (s), industries, works, fire-service, social welfare, rural development, employment exchange, treasury and accounts, taxation, health, electricity, PHED, technical education, weight and measures, agriculture, law and justice, adult education, CAF&PD, police and revenue, according to a source.
The meeting which chaired by the state Chief Minister had also approved the upgradation of various department units in the sub division to district offices. The units include that of IFCD, transport, IPR, MI, CAF&PD and jail, the source informed.
Meanwhile, according to the reports of the ADC Jiribam which was submitted to the state government recently, the sub division also require the establishment of IFCD, transport, IPR, MI, the source informed.
The report has further informed that the immediate need of the moment is the establishment of CAF&PD office in the sub division under an official of the rank of inspector as the sub division has become an important gateway for the transportation of essential commodities and petroleum products into the state, the source informed.
