12th session of 9th State Assembly commences at New Assembly building

IMPHAL, December 20: The 12th session of the 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly slated for three days began today at the newly inaugurated Assembly complex inside the Capitol project with obituary references to the deceased MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing and MLA Borajao.

The Chief Minister O Ibobi who is the leader of the house along with opposition leader Radhabinod Koijam, MLA O Joy, minister Parijat, MLA Morung Makunga, MLA N Mangi, MLA Ng Bijoy, MLA V Hangkhalian, MLA Dr Ratankumar and MLA I Ibohalbi highlighted the achievements and contributions of the two deceased MLA’s during the obituary reference.

The Chief Minister during his address to the house praise Borajao for his contribution towards the welfare of his people and the state. He further described the late MLA as soft-spoken and loving person. He lived his life for the welfare of his people, he added.

Further describing the deceased MLA Wungnaoshang Keishing, the Chief Minister stated that he was a young and dedicated public leader. With his sincerity and dedication to the welfare of his people, he had managed to bring visible development in his constituency.

The Chief Minister further described the untimely demised of the two leaders as a great loss for the state.

After the Chief Minister’s deliberation, other members of the house also praised the two deceased MLA’s for their untiring work to uplift their people.

The members further expressed their concern over the two MLAs leaving their constituencies unattended and further urged the government to look into the projects proposals and other developmental programmes that were initiated by the two before their untimely demise.

Speaker I Hemochandra further addressed that the untimely demise of the two leaders is a great loss for the house as well as the state.

He further expressed his concern over the death of seven sitting MLAs during the current 9th Manipur Legislative Assembly tenure.

“The House expressed deep and profound sorrow on the demise of Wungnoashang Keishing from 42 Phungyar ST a/c and Dr Heikham Borajao from 13 Sekmai SC a/c.

The House further observed a two minute silence in memory of the two deceased MLAs.

Meanwhile, the day’s Question hour had to be shortened due the lengthy obituary reference as most present members decided to express their grievances during the Obituary reference.

Even though the questions were put forth during the Question hour, the concerned ministers were asked by the speaker to deliberate their replies in written only due to the time constrain.
