IMPHAL, Dec 30: A Chinese hand grenade was this morning recovered near a cement mixture used for the construction of a retaining wall along the Thoubal River at Thoubal Thoudam village.
According to a source, the bomb was found this early morning by labourers.
The concerned police later picked up the grenade and disposed it at a safe place.
The reason behind the leaving of the grenade at the place is yet to be ascertained, the source informed.
Meanwhile, an unidentified bag left in front of a shop at Keisahampat Churachandpur bus stop at Tiddim road created some anxious moments this early morning among the shopkeepers of the area.
Fearing that the bag might carry a bomb inside, the shopkeepers informed the police at around 7am.
On arrival at the spot the police team inspected the bag and found that the bag contained only eatable things.
Meanwhile, in connection with the incident, the concerned police imposed some restrictions along the road stretch from 7am to 11 am.
