Speaking to mediaperson during the press conference, Clay Khongsai said that all four persons who surrendered to the police today were actively involved in kidnapping of father and son duo who were found dead on December 16 morning at Lemba village under Yairipok police station.

The Imphal east SP further said no complaint regarding kidnapping of the chowkidar of Irilbung water supply scheme namely Soram Ibomcha and his son  Geetchandra (Yaipu) were filed to police.

However, police came to know about the kidnapping by a faction of the KCP group following the sit-in-protest organised by Irilbung locals.

Imphal east police began the search for the missing Chowkidar and his son only after a case was file later, the SP said adding it was unfortunate that the family members and relatives did not lodge any complaint which hindered the search operation.

Clues about the missing Chowkidar and his son came to the knowledge of the police after their dead bodies were recovered, the SP informed media persons.

He further added that police were able to identify the persons who were involved in the kidnapping of the two.

One person who is likely to be directly involved in the killing of the father and his son is identified as Takhelambam Romi alias Romeo alias Kiran, 28 s/o Ibobi of Chanam Sandrok Mamang Leikai who is still absconding from the police, the SP said.

Further according to the police officer, the kidnappers disclosed that after kidnapping the father and son they took them to a hilly area in Chanan Sandrok.
