IMPHAL December 1: The state police department has imposed traffic restriction besides changing normal traffic regulation within Imphal city on November 3 in connection with the proposed visit of Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
The dy inspector general of police (R-1) cum superintendent of Police, Imphal west district has informed that from 10:30 am onwards vehicles coming from the western side of Tiddim road, NH-37, Uripok Kangchup road towards the east shall be stopped/diverted at Taubungkhok Lamkhai and Maharani Bridge respectively while vehicles coming from the south of Mayai Lambi to the north shall be diverted towards the Khagempalli/Pishumthong till the VVIPs reaches the City Convention Centre.
It has further notified that from 10:30 am onwards vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Singh and Co. Keishampat junction, Maharani Bridge Junction, Shamu Makhong; BT road, Khuyathong Traffic point, Watham Leirak, MG Avenue, MMTA crossing, Chingmeirong Kabui Village crossing, Palace compound crossing.
From 11 am to 1:30 pm onwards, vehicles shall not be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Mantripukhri crossing and Sangakpham crossing and will be diverted towards Khunou via Chingmeirong Kabui village crossing, it has further informed.
From 10:30 am to 11:30 hours officials with vehicles shall be allowed to enter Babupara areas only from Singh and Co. side after showing their identity cards. Visitors to these offices may park vehicles near Hicham Yaicham Pat area.
Further according to the statement, separate traffic regulation is arranged for vehicles carrying passengers for public meeting at Kangla. People intended to attend the meeting at Kangla will be allowed entry only from the Southern gate of Kangla, it added.
For vehicles carrying peoples for the meeting and coming from the western side of Sanjenthong the drop point will be near the southern gate of Kangla and proceed to Hapta Kangjeibung for parking till 10 am.
Further it has notified that passenger vehicles coming from the eastern side of Sanjenthong shall drop participants near palace compound crossing and park at Hapta Kangjeibung from there the people will proceed to Kangla on foot till the venue of the meeting. From 10am onwards all the vehicles carrying participants of the meeting shall be diverted to Hapta Kangjeibung at Singjamei traffic point via Thumbuthong Bridge and also at Khabam Lamkhai and diverted to Hapta Kangjeibung via Minuthong, Lamlong.
The movement of public towards southern gate of Kangla from the palace crossing will be restricted from 10:40 am till the VVIP reaches New ISBT complex.
Movement of pedestrian and vehicles will resume after VVIP’s arrival at New ISBT, it asserted. Henceforth, the vehicles coming from eastern side of Sanjenthong will be diverted at GPO junction toward Yaiskul until VVIPs reaches the airport.
Mobile phones, handbags, matches, umbrella, water bottles, firecracker and any type of weapons or inflammable articles have been restricted from being taken inside the venue of the public meeting.
It has further inform that a locker or safe custody will not be provided for those who possessed the restricted items and any found possessing it will not be allowed to enter the meeting venue.
