IMPHAL, Dec 19: The Hmar People’s Convention-Democratic (HPC-D) president, who was reportedly impeached by an executive council meeting of the convention, today categorically stated that he has not given up the post nor given the charge to anyone, saying some individuals tried to hijack the organization for their selfish personal gains.
HPC (D) president Lalhmingthang Sanate informed Newmai News Network that a few selfish individuals within the organization have made an apparent bid to belie and tarnish his reputation in newspapers published in the State and region by making claims the so called “impeachment as per the resolution of the HPC (D) executive council emergency meeting” held on September 29 last.
He clarified the resolution of the meeting was “baseless and completely unfounded” and declared that the meeting was held without his knowledge and prior notice, questioning that how can an executive meeting be held without the consent of the executive head and the council chairman—the president.
He insisted that he does not accept nor acknowledge the said meeting, and that he has not given up the post of president of the HPC (D), nor given the charge to anyone.
He said he is the founder president of HPC (D), and that he is the president of the organization and will remain its president if it is the will of God.
