IMPHAL, December 23 : With an objective of administering medical aid and effective transportation in rural areas and hill districts, Health and Family Welfare minister L Jayanta today flagged off six ambulances for operation in six districts of the state. The districts include Ukhrul, Chandel, Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Senapati and Jiribam of Imphal East district.
The ambulances have been sanctioned under funds from the National Rural Health Mission.
The ambulances will be attached to the district hospitals of the said districts except for Ukhrul district. The ambulance for the district will be operated through a system of public private partnership on an experimental basis and has been allotted to Comprehensive Health Services and Research Centre, a private run clinic at Ukhrul.
The ambulance for Jiribam will be attached to the Community Health Centre, Jiribam.
The flagging off ceremony was held at the complex of the Directorate of Family Welfare at BT Road.
Minister L Jayanta attended as the chief guest and Mission Director of NHRM, DebeshDeval was the president. Director of Family Welfare Dr. L Joykumar and additional director of the department Dr W Gulapiwere the guest of honours.
