IMPHAL, December 10: The International Human Rights Day was widely observed in the state today as in different parts of the world. Students from the state studying outside also observed the day.
In the state the day was observed at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace compound organized by the Life Watch Manipur, Sana Konung, Imphal organized by the Sharmila Kanba Lup, Centre for Human Rights and Duties Education at Manipur University, Manipur Legal State Authority at Cheirap Court and Women Action for Development, Imphal.
Speakers like senior advocate and rights activist, Khaidem Mani, advocate Ahanthm Romen, highlighted on the role of the law enforcing agencies and human rights issues in the state, at the observation held at Cheirap Court.
Further during the observation organized by the WAD in connection with the international forthnight observation of crimes against women, several women victims shared their experience on right violations during the sharing session.
The Manipur Students’ Association Delhi (MSAD) had observed the programme at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, today.
The programme was observed jointly by various institutions, civil organizations and other different student communities wherein almost more than 200 members were present.
As a part of the observation the participants took out a march from Mandi House to Jantar Mantar before settling at Jantar Mantar.
The members took a deliberate discussion and debated on the issues of human rights and its violations in different parts of the world especially in India. Many of the members opined for an objective and a democratic procedure for the movement against human rights violations and deprivations.
As one of the organizers of the programme, MSAD also put a few words on the issue.
MSAD expressed that “If suppressors, oppressors and exploiters don’t try to give us back the very rights of us, as they have been doing for the last thousands of years, then, we the people would be compelled and determined to fight them for the same, even forcefully, if needed, so that we can teach them a lesson so as to make them understand the real meaning of life, for they are still acting so childishly as far as their minds are concerned”.
MSAD further reflected during the observation that it is the ripe time for the victims of rights violation through their togetherness to voice their concern.
The executives of the MSAD, assured to fight for such causes, suppressed sections besides extending solidarity to those around the globe who are struggling for their rights.
