IMPHAL, December 30: A brief altercation broke out between cadres of KCP- Lallumba group, currently in tripartite talk with state and Unon ogovernment, and personnel of 8th IRB commando battalion at Khabeishoi last night.
The incident happened at the Khabeishoi 7th MR battalion where the militant cadres are presently staying.
According to a source, some cadres of the KCP faction provoked the personnel of the 8th IRB team who were on sentry duty at the battalion by yelling at them.
The personnel went after the errant cadres and managed to nab one of them. Later during interrogation, the individual identified himself as a cadre of the KCP Lallumba and presently staying at the post, the source added.
Meanwhile, even as the IRB personnel were interrogating the errant cadre, some leaders of the group came and took him along with them after assuring not to allow such incidents in the future again.
Further according to the source, later in the night individuals suspected to be cadres of the militant group threw stones and fired upon at the barrack where personnel of the 8th IRB were staying, the source added.
However, as they failed to receive order from any higher authorities, the IRB personnel didn’t retaliate, the source added.
Meanwhile, early this morning there was an altercation between the personnel of 8th IRB and cadres of the KCP faction group.
An understanding was brought only after a meeting between leaders of the militant faction and police authorities including the CO of the 8th IRB and SDPO Porompat.
There are 120 cadres including leaders of the KCP Lallumba group at the Khabeisoi 7th MR battalion under tripartite talk with the state and central government.
