IMPHAL, Jan 16: Two Trinamool party candidates for the forthcoming assembly elections came under bomb attack today while preparations were going on for their flag hoisting ceremonies.
The first blast happened around 11 am at Naharup, near the residence of Panganbam Premananda, the Trinamool candidate for Kshetrigao AC.
No casualties were reported in the blast. In another incident, a blast was averted near the residence of Khumukcham Joykishan, Trinamool candidate of Thangmeiband A C.
Passers-by reported smoke coming from a polythene bag on the steps of the Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba around and police were alerted.
Later, a Lamphel police team took away the IED which was found inside the poly bag along with a cauliflower. The IED was set off at Langol area later.
