IMPHAL, January 9: A total of 59 aspirants from 14 assembly segments of the state including the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have filed their nomination papers today at their respective ROs to contest in the ensuing 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election which is slated for January 28.
The intending candidates, after getting approval for tickets from their respective political parties and with just two days left till filling of nomination ends, have intensified the process of filling their nomination papers.
Since the issuance of notification for filing of nomination papers on January 4, maximum enrolment of nominations papers was seen today.
Amongst those who have filed their nomination papers today include Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who filed his nomination papers today to contest in 31- Thoubal assembly constituency instead of 35-Khangabok assembly constituency.
O Ibobi’s rival from the BJP Indira Oinam also filed her nomination for 31-Thoubal a/c.
In 35-Khangabok a/c, Okram Landhoni, w/o Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, of the INC and Laishram Jatra of MPP filed their nomination papers today.
Others who filed their nomination papers today also include Dr Nimaichand Luwang of the MPP, who will contest at 32 Wangkhem a/c.
In 33-Heirok a/c sitting MLA M Okendro too filed his nomination paper with INC ticket while Sumatibala Devi of MSCP too filed her nomination for Heirok a/c.
In 34-Wangjing Tentha a/c Paonam Brajin, an MSCP candidate too filed his nomination paper.
In Kakching a/c sitting MLA Y Surchandra of INC and N Achouba of CPI filed their nomination papers while in Hiyanglam a/c, Dr Y Radheshyam of CPI filed his nomination paper today.
In Sugnu assembly constituency, sitting MLA K Ranjit filed his nomination paper today while in 36-Wabagai a/c, Md Fajur Rahim of INC filed his nomination paper today.
In respect of Imphal east district, a total of five aspirants filed their nomination papers.
In Kshetrigao a/c. Th Nandakishor Singh, NCP, Md Amin Shah of INC, Vivek Raj Wangkhem of MSCP, P Premananda of Trinamool Congress and Athokpam Lala Singh of the CPI filed their nominations today for the same constituency.
For the 5-Thongju a/c sitting MLA Bijoy Koijam of the INC, Bheigyachandra Samuphaba of the MSCP have filed their nominations today while for 14-Yaiskul a/c, A Chand of the INC and Th Shatyabrata as independent filed their nomination papers today.
In 15-Wangkhei a/c, sitting MLA Y Irabot of the INC, O Henry of MSCP and M Prafullo of NCP have filed their nomination papers today.
In 7-Andro a/c sitting MLA Th Shyamkumar Singh of Trinamool Congress, Dr Y Mani Singh of CPI have filed their nomination papers today while in 6-Keirao a/c, K Thamarjit Singh of MSCP filed his nomination paper today.
For 40-Jiribam a/c, sitting MLA, Th Devendra Singh of INC and Dipti as independent candidate filed their nomination papers to concerned RO.
In 3-Khurai a/c, Dr N Bijoy Singh of INC, L Sushildro Meetei of Trinamool Congress and N Bihari of MSCP filed their nomination papers today.
For 8-Lamlai a/c sitting MLA Ph Parijat of CPI, Ksh Biren Singh of INC and Ch Ibomcha Singh of Trinamool Congress filed their nomination papers today while in 1-Khundrakpam a/c, lone candidate M Premchandra Singh of CPI filed his nomination paper today.
In 2-Heingnang a/c sitting MLA N Biren filed his nomination paper today.
In 11-Sagolband a/c in Imphal West sitting MLA Dr Kh Loken of INC, RK Ingo Singh of MSCP have filed their nomination papers today while in 12- Keishamthong a/c, sitting MLA L Jayentakumar of INC and Ch Ghanashyam of MSCP have filed their nomination papers today.
In 10-Uripok a/c, Dr N Nando Singh of BJP filed his nomination paper today.
In 13-Singjamei, sitting MLA and speaker of the 9th Manipur legislative assembly I Hemochandra of INC and H Nabashyam of MPP have filed their nomination papers today.
In 9-Thangmeiband a/c, Jyotin Waikhom of INC, M Bhorot of BJP and opposition leader RB Koijam of NCP and Kh Joykishan of Trinamool Congress have filed their nomination papers today.

Aspirants who have filed their nomination papers today in the hill constituencies are TN Haokip of INC in the reserved (ST) 59-Saikot a/c in Churachandpur district and Jamkholet Haokip of the BJP who filed his nomination paper in 42-Tengnoupal a/c in Chandel district.
