IMPHAL, January 19: The Election Manifesto of the Congress was released today at Congress Bhavan by Luizinho Faleiro, CWC Member and Gen Secretary AICC (in charge Manipur) today in the presence of CM O. Ibobi and MPCC President Gaikhangam.
Speaking on the occasion, MPCC president said the party stands for Unity, Peace, Stability, Progress, Prosperity and Development. He also stated that the congress further aims to take up many other developmental programs will be undertaken while highlighting various achievements under the Congress tenure.
The CM while addressing the gathering said, “Congress will not give up even though there has been serious threats to our candidates and party workers by CorCom over the forthcoming elections.”
Asked to comment on the issue of Inner Line Permit in the state, the CM replied that the matter had already been discussed in the last session of the 9th Manipur legislative assembly and that it would be sub-judice to comment.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the manifesto release, the CM said that NPF’s entry will not affect the political scenario in the state. “We believe in democratic processes and welcome the entry of political parties. We don’t think that the NPF will bring any drastic changes to the political scene or that it will affect the life of the people of Manipur,” he said.
Responding to a media query on the state of roads and communication systems in the state, Ibobi said, “We can say with great pride that the condition of roads in interior areas and villages of Manipur are much better compared to the same in other neighboring states.
He however admitted that the condition of roads and transport systems can be improved in the hill areas of the state, adding that his government had tried to develop NH 37 (earlier 53) and 2 (earlier NH 39).
