Grenade attacks on Congress continue

IMPHAL, January 7: The grenade attacks on the Congress party have continued unabated with unidentified persons lobbing grenades at the office of the party at Nambol, while another was lobbed at the residence of a Congress worker at Sagolband yesterday. Another hand grenade exploded yesterday at the residence of Congress MLA Brajabidhu of Lamsang, while another was unexploded Chinese made hand grenade was found this morning from the MLA’s residence.

According to the police, unidentified persons lobbed a Chinese made hand grenade at the Congress office located at Nambol bazar at around 8pm yesterday. The bomb however failed to explode. Nambol police later remove the bomb safely from the Congress office, police informed.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons hurled a Chinese made hand grenade at the residence of Kh Bhubaneshwor of Sagolband.  He is identified to be an active Congress worker.  The bomb failed to explode. Lamphel police later removed the grenade.

Meanwhile, a grenade exploded at the residence of Congress MLA Brajabidhu at Lamdeng Khunou late last night after suspected militants hurled a hand grenade at his residence. The explosion however failed to cause any human casualties. However, family members found an unexploded grenade from the courtyard of the MLA’s residence. Lamsang police later recovered the grenade safely.
