IMPHAL, Jan 24: The Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) has charged the state home department for their weak performance in the state and its failure in controlling the law and order situation in the state. Addressing a press conference, at the party office at Konung Mamang, MSCP Working President Kh Devabrata urged for a careful scrutiny of money transactions and its movement with regard to the forthcoming assembly elections. He called upon the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer (Manipur) to strengthen up their surveillance against such activities.

Wondering whether victorious NPF candidates will put up the demand of Naga integration at the floor of the Assembly, Devabrata said as a pre-emptive move, the Assembly with all promptness should frame a law which will make invalid any debate that could possibly disintegrate Manipur.

He stated that the AITC and its chief Mamta Banerjee were not interested in the welfare and issues of Manipur till in the recent past. While she was Union railway minister and member of parliament, the West Bengal chief minister never took part in debates on the burning issues belonging to the state, drawing inferences that the party is now discussing the welfare of Manipur only for electoral gains.

Former minister Vivek Raj Wangkhem was also present during the conference.
