LAMKA, January 9 : To ensure a free and fair poll of the 10th Legislative Assembly election schedule to be held on the January 28 every possible measures are being taken up in the district level including posting of sufficient security personnel at each polling centres so as to pre-empt any sort of rigging and booth.
Stating this the DC, Ccpur Jacintha Lazurus IAS during a press conference today at the BRGF Hall starting at about 12 noon asserted that all Suspension of Operation , SoO, groups will be sent to designated camps in order to control any interference from the outfits during the election exercise and for the purpose, further high level meeting of the state will be conducted.
Besides engaging frisking officials for the poll exercises on the of election day, the DC further maintained that an order has been issued to as many as 4700 gun licence owners to submit/deposit their guns to the nearest police station within a stipulated timeframe .
Complying with the order many have deposited their guns and firearms to the police station however a large number have till date failed to do the same however in case of their failure their guns and licences will be confiscated with the help of security forces.
To ensure fair voting, each voter will be photograph at each polling station and on proof of their identity being correct, he/she will be allowed to vote, the DC stated and further pointed out that each polling officers are required to produce actual photos of voting and number of votes being cast and each has to tally otherwise a repoll may be ordered.
She further said the EVM has specially been designed in such a way that it records the switch on as well as end time alongwith the duration taken by each voter.
During the said press conference, the director of Income Tax, Investigation, North Eastern Region DP Haokip and his team were also present . Addressing the media persons present, Haokip pointed out that his teams main duty will be to tracked down the inflow of black money in the region. He also highlighted the various strictures imposed on candidates.
