IMPHAL, January 4: Following its recent announcement of candidates for 30 constituencies, the Peoples’ Democratic Front today announced candidates for another four constituencies.
The announcement was made this evening at the MPP office by PDF convenor Dr Nimaichand Luwang.
Further in his announcement, he stated that the alliance will support MPP candidate Y Mangi for 2-Heignang a/c, and in the constituencies of 41 Chandel, 55 Timaipukh and 60 Singhat the alliance will support JD(U) candidates.
The names of the JD(U) candidates will be announced tomorrow at the JD(U) office, he added.
Of the total 34 candidates announced by the PDF so far; MPP has 14 candidates while JD(U) has 8.
It may be mentioned that the Peoples’ Democratic Front was formed by the MPP, JD(U), CPI-M and NCP recently with the main objective to defeat the Congress in the state.
Meanwhile, the Manipur State Congress Party also announced its first batch of candidates for the ensuing election today at its office at Konung Mamang.
The announcement was made by party president Y Mani in the presence of the candidates and party members.
The total list included 17 candidates with five from the hill districts and the remaining 12 from the valley districts.
The MSCP president further announced that its candidates will contest the election with the main objective to safeguard the territorial integrity of the state and to bring peace and development in the state.
Meanwhile, CPI candidate Irawat of Patsoi a/c became the first candidate to file nomination for candidature of the 10th Manipur Assembly election at the Imphal west DC office today.
The filing of nomination will be continued till January 11.
