LAMKA, January 10: With eight candidates today and one yesterday filing their nomination papers for the upcoming 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly election, the total number of candidates who have filed their nominations in the Churachandpur district has reached nine altogether so far while many are yet to do the same in the coming days.
The first to file nomination for candidature of the ensuing election for CCpur district was INC candidate TN Haokip in 59-Saikot constituency yesterday.
His arch rival Chungkhosei have also filed his nomination today for Saikot A/C with a BJP ticket.
Another INC candidate, T Phungzathang who is minister of Power/Hort & soil conservation also filed his nomination paper today to contest in the 58-Churachandpur a/c, while, K Vungzalian a former minister as well have also filed his nomination with a NCP party ticket to contest in the same constituency
Two other candidates from the INC who have filed their nomination paper today are Vungzagin Valte for 56-Thanlon a/c and Ginsuanhau to contest in the 60-Singngat a/c .
With the filing of nominations today, the number of INC candidates who have filed their nominations in the district have come to four while five candidates from other parties have also filed their nominations so far in the district.
Other none Congress who have filed nomination papers are Sehpu Haokip for the 57th Henglep a/c with a NPF ticket, and S Genlunthang who has filed his nomination with a CPI party ticket to contest from the same Henglep a/c.
Ngurivung have filed his nomination as an independent candidate for 55-Tipaimukh a/c while no other candidates have filed nomination in this constituency .
While the filing of nominations are on there is no dearth of candidates obtaining nomination papers from the DC /Ccpur office and today also five nomination have been obtain by various candidates according to sources.
