RIMS raids hostels to stop use of power devices

IMPHAL, January 21: For smooth functioning of RIMS and prevent frequent power losses, RIMS officials conducted a raid inside it premises and confiscated a number of heating apparatus yesterday.

Ng Tomcha Singh, assistant engineer (Electrical) of the institute told mediapersons that in the recent past, there have been instances of frequent power breakdowns at some places of the institute and other departments including Psychiatry ward, ID ward, mortuary, quarters and guest house.

In an inspections it was discovered its hostellers have been using electric heaters excessively.

Further, many of the hostellers were tapping the overhead low tension lines.

The search managed to confiscate 50 electrical heaters including immersion rods and still estimates that it may be only 30 per cent of the total electrical heaters used in the hostels.
