Training begins for poll officials

IMPHAL January 19: Training for polling personnel of Imphal East and Bishnupur districts who will be deployed during the 2012 assembly elections began today.

The program of Imphal East district began at the lecture hall of JNIMS, Porompat. On the first day, groups 1 to 60 were provided training on the procedures of the polls. Three more batches comprising of groups 61 to 120, groups 121 to 180 and groups 181 to 240 will undergo the training on January 20, 21 and 22 in that order at the same place. Groups 241 to 353 will receive training on January 22 at the examination hall of the institute.

The second phase of training for polling personnel of the district will be conducted on January 21 to 24 at the Panchayat Bhavan at DC Office at Porompat. Here, polling officers 3 from serial number 1 to 353 will be trained on the duties they will be performing at the elections.

The training for presiding officers and polling officers 1 will be conducted at the examination and lecture halls of JNIMS on January 23 and 24.

On the other hand, Bishnupur district election officer M Lakshmi Kumar inaugurated the first round of poll training programme for the district at the Kiyamba Ningshing Sanglen which was attended by presiding officers and PO1s.

Meanwhile, the second phase of training for officials on poll duties for Imphal West district will be conducted at the office complex of the DC at Lamphelpat by the SDOs of Lamphel, Lamshang, Patsoi and Wangoi on January 23 and 24. The first day will be attended by presiding officers, PO 1 and PO2 while the second days will be a combined affair where all officials on poll duties will be involved.
