IMPHAL, Feb 15 (Newmai News Network): An Indian National Congress (INC) candidate’s photograph taken just before casting his vote in a polling booth has disappeared and instead came out as a photograph of a different person in place during the recent Manipur polls.
Yamthong Haokip, an INC candidate from Saikul constituency was completely amazed when his photograph was found removed and replaced by a photograph of another person in the voters’ photograph list. He said this while talking to the media here on Wednesday.
Haokip said his name was in the serial no. 1 in the electoral roll and that he casted his vote in first place in polling station 46/15 under Saikul constituency of Senapati district on the polling day on January 28.
He, however, said his own photograph which was taken by a polling officer was found replaced by another person’s photo. The matter came to light when photo comparison of electors was carried out two days ago.
The Election Commission has not yet taken up any step though the evidence of poll violation by means of photo mismanagement was found out by the central observers, Haokip lamented.
