MPA celebrates 25th b`day

IMPHAL, Feb 10: The armed wing of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Manipur People`™s Army (MPA) celebrated its 25th Raising Day at the general headquarter, units and battalion headquarters of the outfit on Thursday.

A statement issued by UNLF senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said that the celebration began with offering floral tribute to the `martyrs`™ who have laid down their lives in the `freedom struggle`. The acting chairman of the UNLF and the chief of army staff of the MPA also gave their messages on this occasion.

A documentary film titled `Manipur-the raging fire for freedom` produced by the publicity department was also released in connection with the silver jubilee anniversary of the MPA.

The film contains message from the UNLF praying for support from other countries in the armed struggle of Manipur, historical facts of how Manipur was annexed by India in 1949, oppression of the common people under the shadow of AFSPA, counter-insurgency operations carried out by the Indian forces and its impact on the people of Manipur. The film is based mainly on the armed struggle of the UNLF carried against the Indian forces to attain the `right to self-determination` of the people of Manipur.

The MPA also expressed its gratitude to the people for rendering utmost support to the armed struggle for the last 25 years.
