IMPHAL, Feb 20: The first day of the first phase of polio immunization in the state saw 55 percent of the targeted 355064 children being administered with polio drops, however, Tamenglong district drew blank during the first day.
According to an official release of the director, family Welfare Services, out of the targeted 355064 children in the state, a total of 195539 were vaccinated covering all districts of the state on the first day on February 19.
Elaborating on the district wise report of the day, the official release has stated that while the highest numbers of children were vaccinated at Imphal west with 52372 children vaccinated, Tamenglong with a target of 18364 children failed to vaccinate a single child.
Percentage wise, highest numbers of children were vaccinated in Imphal east district. Imphal east with a target of 58800 children, vaccinated 47325 children which stands at 80.48 percent during the first day on Sunday.
Percentage of children vaccinated during the first day was recorded to be relatively higher in the valley districts than the hill districts.
Bishnupur district with a target of 31200 children managed to cover 64.33 percent which is a total of 20072 children. Imphal west with a target of 66900 covered 78.28 percent which is 52372 children.
In Thoubal district, out of 54700 children targeted, the DFWOs/DIOs reported to have vaccinated 31260 children.
In Senapati, out of 25000 children targeted, 3967 children were vaccinated, according to the official statement, while in Kangpokpi out of 21500 children targeted, 9150 children were vaccinated, the release added.
Out of a target of 35500 children in Churachandpur, 9329 children were vaccinated, the release added.
4542 children were vaccinated out of a target of 23800 in Ukhrul district according to the official statement.
In Chandel out of 13200 targeted children, 11561 were vaccinated, while in Moreh out of 6100 target children, 5961 children were vaccinated, according to the statement.
