IMPHAL, Feb 8: The Samuel Jendai Election Steering Committee has refuted the reports that the former minister and NPF candidate from Tamenglong Ac led an assualt on Phelix Lungthoia,a supporter of his rival MSCP candidate.
In a press release, it turned the table around and charged MSCP supporters of resorting to violence and intimidation against supporters of Samuel Jendai during re-poll at Sonpram on February 4. Presenting its version on the incident involving Lungthoi, the election agent of Samuel recounted that the MSCP worker and his collegues had entered the village despite a prohibition on entry of outsiders on that day. If that was not enough, they started distributingh money to the villagers in violation of the election code of conduct. The election agent also alleged that the MSCP candidate has been using money and muscle power to victimise NPF supporters since many month back in the run up to the elections.
