IMPHAL, Mar 28: Assistance finance secretary of the banned PLA, O Ibomcha Singh is claimed to have been apprehended by Assam Rifles personnel from Cachar district of Assam on Wednesday.
Based on a specific information regarding the presence of a PLA cadre in Phulerthal in Cachar, the troops of 22 Assam Rifles under the Red Shield Division launched an operation along with Lakhipur police representatives in the area during which the troops apprehended assistance finance secretary of PLA, namely O Ibomcha Singh, son of (L) Babutombi Singh, resident of Borbil, Phulerthal in Cachar district, according to a PIB (Defence Wing) statement.
The apprehedee was handed over to Lakhipur police station, it added.
Meanwhile, Thoubal district police commandos today arrested a PREPAK cadre from Elangkhangpokpi Lamkhai in the Thoubal district during a search operation.
The cadre of the banned PREPAK, who was nabbed by Thoubal police commandos during the operation at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday, has been identified as Angom Ingo alias Iboyaima, 41, son of (L) Kula of Nongpok Sekmai Khunbi, stated a press release issued by SP, Thoubal district.
