IMPHAL, Mar 16: Reacting to a news item “AR lathi-charge leaves five injured” carried out in the March 16 edition of the IFP, a PIB statement has stated that the AR troops had restrained themselves and had not used force while dealing with the meira paibis and school children assembled at the main entrance of the Mayang Imphal post of AR who had gathered demanding the release of one Md Yakub Ali.
It has further identified Yakub Ali as a s/s cpl of PULF (MI Khan faction) and added that the crown had forcibly tried to enter the post and release the alleged militant.
It has further informed that two local men instigated the crowd and intentionally kept the women and children in the front.
The crowd also tried to stop the vehicle carrying the prisioner and during retaliation, the AR acted with no force.
However, the AR conveyed to the crowd that the apprehendee will be handed over to the Mayang Imphal police for further interrogation, it added.
