IMPHAL, Mar 14: The Naga Student’s Union Chandel has threatened to imposed a 24 hours Chandel CHAKKA bandh from 5 a.m. of March 24 to 5 a.m. of March 25, including Imphal-Moreh NH 39, if the Pallel-Chandel road has not been improved.
According to a press release, the NSUC has submitted numbers of applications and representatives to the OC of 82 RC Tengnoupal for improvement of pallel-Chandel road which is in awful condition but BRTF/BRO has failed to meet the genuine demand of NSUC. Further the NSUC is demanding clarification in what circumstances was BRTF/BRO failed to improve/repair the said road which is only 18 kms when the Centre Govt. has already sanctioned the amount meant for the very road. The NSUC also appeal the general public for co-operation and support to the agitation in the interest of development in the district.
In an another press release, the NSUC has demanded immediate transfer of Executive Engineer, Chandel Power Sub-Station for lack of transparency, irregularity and carelessness to the demand for installation of 132/KV transformer at Chandel Power Sub-Station, ZEO Chandel for irregularity and non-implementation of Centre funded schemes and poor quality of school buildings build under S.S.A. and Executive Engineer PHED & PWD Chandel for various manipulations under him.
