IMPHAL, Mar 28: A man was found dead today at Kalibari in Thangal bazar in the city, while in a separate incident, a van driver succumbed at Shija Hospitals after being hit by a truck.
An unidentified man, who appeared to be a mentally abnormal person, was found dead by some passers-by around 1:30 pm on Wednesday at Kalibari in Thangal Bazar.
City police picked up the body and deposited it at the RIMS morgue.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a passenger van driver who had been hit by a truck succumbed yesterday at Shija Hospitals after undertaking treatment for about 30 days.
Takhellambam Shyamkumar, a van driver, was admitted to the private hospital on February 29 after he was seriously wounded in a road mishap where a Tata Winger van, he was driving was rammed by a speeding truck bearing registration number MN04/2296 near Ushoipokpi bridge, according to a police source.
The truck involved in the road accident belongs to one Md Nasir Khan of Lilong Tairen Makhong. However, it is not clear whether the truck has been seized by police or not.
The body of Shyamkumar has been handed over to his family after conducting autopsy at JNIMS, the source added.
