Maram students thanks CM for timely relieve to inferno victims

IMPHAL, March 16: The Maram Students` Union (MKS) and Maram Bazar have conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the state Chief Minister for consenting to provide immediate relief request of Francis Ngajokpa, MLA for the need of Maram Bazar where an inferno on March 11 had reduced 19 shops to ashes and in an attempt to prevent the spread of fast and furious fire had left 29 houses damaged thereby leaving behind many homeless and properties worth several crores of rupees destroyed.

A statement of the student body has stated that the MLA has handed over Rs. 9,50,000 as immediate relief to the local relief committee in an interactive function with the victims at Maram Bazar on March 15.

It has further stated that with the help of Chief Minister O Ibobi, the MLA has assured long-term policy assistance after DPR furnished by the District Administration.

During the function Francis has stated that Maram Bazar is a market mostly run by non-locals and the rich variety of communities residing have to maintain the spirit of tolerance, co¬existence and mutual love & respect in order to make this Bazar a cosmopolitan township, the statement added.

MKS believes the immediate response of the government in reaching out to the needy is part of the Government`s effort in waking up to put people at first, the statement added.

Meanwhile, MKS has deeply acknowledged the affection and partnership shown by various organizations/individuals including K Raina, ex-MLA, DC Senapati, 59 Mountain Brigade Red Shield Division, 5AR, 43 AR, 98 RCC/15 BRTF, SDSA, SDCC etc, the statement added.
