IMPHAL, March 31: The much expected second expansion of the Okram Ibobi Singh led Congress government will not happen before April 6, according to informed sources.
The state governor Gurbachan Jagat is away on leave. He is expected to come back to Imphal on April 6.
The Ibobi led government was expanded for the first time on March 16, when he inducted PCC chief Gaikhangam, Th Debendra and Phungzathang Tonsing in his Council of Ministers.
Reliable sources said, the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Home Minister Gaikhangam will leave Imphal for New Delhi on April 3 to hold talks with the party high command on the expansion of 19-day old government.
Earlier, the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Home Minister Gaikhangam was scheduled to leave for New Delhi yesterday.
Sources added, the MPCC felicitation of its chief Gaikhangam was organized on March 29 due to the earlier schedule of March 30.
It is not yet known whether Revenue Minister Th Debendra and Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing will accompany the Chief Minister and the Home Minister on their New Delhi visit.
In New Delhi, CM Ibobi and HM Gaikhangam will hold talks with party president Sonia Gandhi and other senior leaders on the composition of the ministry and finalize the list of 8 MLAs to be inducted in the ministry.
Meanwhile, hectic lobbying is on in Imphal and New Delhi by ministerial aspirants for a berth in the Ibobi led government.
