IMPHAL, March 20 (agencies): A self styled `sergeant major` of Manipur-based Peoples Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) was arrested on Tuesday.
Senior superintendent of police Apurba Jibon Barua told that the militant was picked up by the police from Dighalipukhuri area in the heart of the city at around 11 am following a tip-off.
Investigation is on, he said, adding, the police believes that the PREPAK has hideouts in the city and its surrounding areas.
Another source has identified the arrested militant as H Nongkhomba, sergeant major of PREPAK. He was apprehended during a joint operation between a team of Manipur Police and Guwahati city police. He is presently under police custody at Panbazar police station, the source added.
