IMPHAL, March 25: The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has came out strongly against the arrested rapists involved in the March 24 rape case.

A release by Ksh Yoiheiba, senior publicity officer of the outfit has stated that Laikhuram Rojit, Chungkham Ibomcha, Salam Bijen and Kshetrimayum Kenedy involved in violating the rights of a tribal woman will be given befitting punishment by the outfit.

It has further stated that the four persons may be given bail by the court. But, they should plead their case to the UNLF as soon as they are released. Aside from their case, victims of physical violation can approach the UNLF for justice. The case will be investigated and befitting punishment will be handed to those found guilty.

Meanwhile, the accused persons which are freed by the judiciary imply that the government does not respect the rights of women. It said that the family members of the accused persons should not defend the culprits. The society should try to bring about justice and prevent happening of similar crimes to women, it said.

The release said that, women have been discriminated by those in security forces, there have been many incidents of violation and such trend have continued. It is no longer tolerated by the outfit that women should be viewed as sexual objects and treated in a similar manner.

Like the campaign organized by the outfit in the 90s giving befitting punishment to rapist, the outfit will again concentrate on rooting out such fiends who cannot respect the rights of women.

Lastly, those involved in booking the four persons are lauded by the UNLF.
