IMPHAL, Apr 12: The Governor of Manipur Gurbajan Jagat and Chief Minister Okram Ibobi SIngh have greeted the people of the state on the occassion of the Cheiraoba.
The Governor in his official message has stated “It gives me great pleasure to greet the people of Manipur on the happy and auspicious occasion of “Cheiraoba’.
Cheiraoba symbolizes the advent of the new year and is a unique festival which every household celebrates with great enthusiasm in Manipur. As Cheiraoba is celebrated with pure mind and body rekindling a new vista of life for better tomorrow it is time to collectively work to destroy the dark forces in the society trying to disrupt the pace of progress and development in the State.
I, once again, convey my best wishes to all on this auspicious occasion”.
The Chief Minister in his separate message has stated, “I greet the people of Manipur on the occasion of Cheiraoba festival, which falls on April 13, 2012”.
“Cheiraoba festival marks the parting of the old year and onset of the New Year. While extending my warmest greeting and best wishes to all on the occasion, I also hope and pray that the festival bring joy, peace and prosperity to all the people of the State. I join the people of Manipur in the celebration of Cheiraoba festival.
Once again I extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to all” the message added.
