IMPHAL, April 27: Personal enmity costs a 29 year old his life on Thursday. The man identified as Moirangthem Mohan Meetei, 29 son of Mangijao of Napat Mayai Leikai was beheaded by one Kangbam Ibomcha, 49 son of (L) K Gambhir.

Ibomcha has been arrested by the police from Wangoo.

The incident came to light this morning around 9am only after Mohan’s cut-off head was found from a paddy field along the Napat Mayai road by locals. The locals later informed the police about the recovery of the cut-off head.

Soon after, the police fished out the beheaded body of Moirangthem Mohan stuffed in a gunny bag with a stone tied to it from the Imphal River which passes just in front of Ibomcha’s house.

According to sources, some years back, Mohan had knifed Ibomcha on his face during a fight, since then the two had been quarrelling time and again.

On Thursday evening, at around 6:30pm, when Ibomcha’s family had gone out to watch a Lai Haraoba in the locality, Mohan had come to his house and without saying anything took out rice from his kitchen.

When Ibomcha asked why he had come, Mohan had replied, “just like that”, the source informed.

However, while Mohan was eating inside his kitchen Ibomcha fearing that Ibomcha has come to attack him once again, hit him with an axe.

Even as Mohan was lying on the floor, Ibomcha took out a knife and beheaded him.

Later he put the beheaded body in a gunny bag and after tying it with a huge stone threw it down the Imphal River.
