IED explodes near BSF post

IMPHAL, April 19: An IED suspected to be planted by unidentified militants was exploded outside the post of 116 BSF at Litanpokpi under Thoubal police station this early morning, but no casualty was reported in the blast, a police source said here.

The IED, which did not have splinters, exploded outside the BSF post around 6:45 am about 130 metres from the post. No one was injured in the explosion.

Another IED was recovered a short distance of about 8 metre from the post, the source further adds.

It is believed that the two IEDs were planted by unknown militants. The second IED also did not have splinters but it was made with two electric detonators and TNT which was a timer bomb, the police said, adding that the bomb has been retrieved by a team of police bomb experts.

Meanwhile, a source has said that police have arrested a militant suspected to be involved in the planting of the IEDs. No further details can be had till the filling of this report.
