IMPHAL, April 4: Maj Gen U K Gurung, YSM, IGAR (South) interacted with the village chiefs, women organizations, youth organization, Pastor and civil dignitaries of the Chandel district today, and provided 30 solar lanterns to the village chiefs of Chandel district for their community hall. The grandeur of traditional welcome and cultural programme by the villagers and humility expressed by the village authorities as well as committee members towards Assam Rifles for providing solar lanterns to the villages devoid of power supply were some of the high lights of the ceremony. IGAR (South) while addressing the villagers at the occasion urged people to come forward for peace and prosperity. He assured them of full support and cooperation of Assam Rifles in achieving it. The village chiefs and civil administration expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Assam Rifles for providing solar lantern for community hall.
