IMPHAL, April 9: The eight IRB personnel including a Subedar and seven riflemen who were arrested along with 93 kgs of ephedrine have been sent to Sajiwa jail today by a designated court of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substance.
The eight IRB personnel were arrested along with 93 kg of Epedrine, 9,60,000 Polyfed tablets and 9,94,500 Respited tablets by a team of the 42 Assam Rifles Bongyang post on April 2 from along the Imphal-Moreh road at Saibom Lamkhai and were further remanded to police custody till April 9 on April 4 by the CJM, Chandel.
The eight personnel including the Saibom post commander of the 3rd IRB identified as Md Zaheeruddin, 54 son of Jahimmuddin of Lilong Arapti Lamkhai were in full uniform along with their service weapons and were travelling on a bus with regd no MN 013-1660 when they were arrested by the AR team during routine checking.
The other seven riflemen are Elangbam Devendro, 33 son of Manao of Hiyanglam, Thangjam Tiken, 25 son of Shyam of Serou, L Romojit, 30 son of Mohori of Nongpok Kakching, S Vio Paomai, 33 son of Sepu of Karong, A Rameshwar, 25 son of Bira of Thoubal, P Dhanabir, 23 son of Ranjit of Pallel Mamang Leikai and Ksh Prafullo, 30 son of Chandramani of Kakching were arrested by a team of the 42 AR, Bongyang post on Monday afternoon from along the Imphal Moreh road at Saibom Lamkhai.
The eight were in full uniform along with their service weapons when they were arrested along with the contraband tablets.
