IMPHAL, April 14: The Lord Mahadev temple at Kakching Uyok hillock witnessed an unprecedented large crowd on “Cheiraoba” festival yesterday.
Kakching constituency MLA Surchandra expressed happiness about the newly constructed Mahadev temple at Uyok hillock under his initiatives and stated it has attracted a large crowd.
He said the temple was built suitably at Uyok hillock because it is a holy site and credited Inner Manipur MP Thangso Baite for the financial assistance provided by him through the government for the purpose.
A total of Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned for the temple building project, the MLA said, adding that the public also largely contributed to it.
Kakching could become another Imphal city if the public willingly extend support and cooperation, Surchandra further said and added that another Rs 10 crore project for development of tourism in Kakching was in hand.
The government is considering the approval of the big project, the MLA further informed and sought the cooperation of the Kakching public to facilitate speedy implementation of the tourism project.
MLA Surchandra said this to a section of media at Uyok hillock yesterday after he was quarried by the media team regarding the newly constructed Mahadev temple.
The holy place witnessed an unprecedented big crowd of devotees during the festivities of Cheiraoba yesterday.
