IMPHAL, April 14: Imphal West district police commandos have nabbed three militants of two different underground groups and one kidnapper during the last two days and seized various incriminating articles from them.
Acting on a credible information, a team of Imphal west district police commandos arrested two members of the banned PREPAK yesterday at 9: 45pm from Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai.
The arrested have been identified as Thongam Ajitkanta alias Ajit, 32 son of (L) Th Mani of Ningthemcha Karong and the other cadre as Huirongbam Sanatomba, 34 son of H Gouro of Singjamei Mayeng Leikai.
Three mobile handsets and Rs 5,000 were seized from their possession, SP Imphal west said in a statement on Saturday.
One KCP (MC) was apprehended by another team of Imphal west district police commandos from Thangal Bazaar near MG Avenue at about 2:05pm on April 12.
The KCP (MC) cadre has been identified as Lourembung Abung alias Sunder, 29 son of (L) Mani of Kangchup Chingkhong.
One demand letter of KCP (MC) was recovered from his possession, another statement of the district SP stated.
On the same day around 3:10 pm, the district commandos managed to arrest a kidnapper near Manipur State Museum here.
Khangembam Ratan, 36, son of Kh Melei of Wangoo Naodakhong disclosed that he forfully took Rs 12,000 from the proprietor-cum-manager of Hotel Era located at Paona Bazaar.
Ratan also disclosed that he threatened the manager of Hotel Santosh located at Paona Bazaar and snatched the visiting register book of the hotel. He further entered inside the hotel and kidnapped a waiter of the hotel, identified as Md Apik for a ransom amounting to Rs 30,000, the statement added.
Two mobile handsets, one visiting register of Hotel santosh and a sum of Rs 12,00 were seized from him, it further added.
