IMPHAL, April 23: Keirao MLA K Thamarjit accompanied by ICDS staff and media persons inspected the Anganwadi centers in the constituency today.
Out of 24 Anganwadi centers in the constituency, the buildings of only three centers had been completed. In many other centers, it was found that the centre was opened in the courtyard of a residence, while many exist only in name.
Speaking to media persons, the MLA said the frequency of Anganwadi centers will be checked.
He further added that, there are certain localities where there is excessive number of Anganwadi centers. The excess will be shifted to other localities where there is lack of Anganwaddi centers.
He has further urged the concerned department to retrieve the funds for the building of such excessive centres if it has been allotted already and to reallocate the same to the new proposed centers.
