IMPHAL, April 28: A woman was injured during mob control exercise of the police at Wabagai Lamkhai this afternoon at 2:18pm.
JAC members of the Premila murder case and gang rape of Jangthailiu Kamei had gathered this afternoon and started their rally demanding capital punishment for the accused in the two criminal cases, when police arrived and asked for the DC permit for the rally.
When the JACs member failed to produce any valid permit, the police blocked the agitators from further continuing with the rally.
The agitators however tried to forcibly proceed, at which police fired two blank rounds followed by tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.
The injured has been identified as Yumnam Madhumala, 45 wife of Yumnam Nabakumar of Langmeidon Manning Makha Leikai.
